Purr Machine: Biography...

BetsyKevinAlthough the Los Angeles-based PURR MACHINE was established in 1996 under the moniker KORE, the primary members solidified their reputations with previous endeavors.

Frontwoman Betsy Martin utilized her distinctive croon with the seminal Phoenix-formed Caterwaul, a band which released two albums on the IRS label in the '80s. In PURR MACHINE, she writes the lyrics, conceives all of the vocal melodies, and has a lot of cats (they purr all the time).

Next up is Kevin Kipnis, PURR MACHINE's bassist, programmer and primary songwriter. He did his time as bassist and composer in the highly acclaimed Los Angeles death-rock group Kommunity FK. Kevin also has BFOK studio, where he keeps busy working an various projects when not recording Purr Machine.

On GING GING their debut full length release they create "atmospherica" and ethereal driven rock sound, also with an atmospheric and hypnotic blend. In addition to their riff driven tracks, they also weave together some laid back "Electronica" inspired grooves.

Out now is "STARRY" their full length cd, which promises to be a very heavy experience, an intoxicating cornucopia of catchy melodies, driving rhythms, and the bandŐs trademark lyrical style. Some of the musical contributions on "Starry" consist of drums on several songs by Chris Vrenna, of Tweaker/NIN fame, and guitars on the song "Sister" by William Faith of "Faith and the Muse". Statik from Collide did some loop treatments on the song "Sad Im Gone". Guitarist, Kirk Hellie of Pink Noise Test. It's available now for purchase
